Bye Bye Beaver: Species Extinction
Over the course of the earth's history, different species have come and gone. When an entire species is wiped out, either all at once due to a disaster, or gradually over the course of many years, that species is extinct.
10,000 years ago, in 8,000 BC, the Tremarctos Floridanus, or Florida Short-Faced Beaver, went extinct. In that time period, extinction was usually natural. Today, however, many species have been or are currently being eliminated through human practices, such as hunting or environmentally harmful activities.
